Volunteer Phone Receptionist

Role Summary
Help HopeCentral provide a warm, welcoming experience for patients by answering phones, assisting with scheduling, and supporting basic administrative needs. Volunteers will represent HopeCentral with professionalism, compassion, and a heart for serving others. 1 day per week or up to 8 hrs. This is not a remote role.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls promptly and courteously.

  • Schedule appointments and assist with routine questions.

  • Direct non-routine calls and requests to the appropriate staff member.

  • Provide a welcoming, compassionate, and professional experience for patients and families.

  • Assist with basic clerical and administrative tasks as needed.

  • Support HopeCentral’s mission by demonstrating humility, hospitality, and care for each person.

Qualifications

  • Friendly, dependable, and compassionate.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Comfortable speaking with patients and families by phone.

  • Willingness to learn and follow HopeCentral policies and procedures.

  • Commitment to treating every person with dignity and respect.

  • Previous medical office or receptionist experience is helpful but not required.

  • Passion for HopeCentral’s faith-based mission.

  • Excellent customer-service attitude and skills

  • Language ability (Amharic, Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese) preferred


HopeCentral Board Member

Serve as a trusted leader and ambassador for HopeCentral by providing strategic guidance, supporting fundraising and community partnerships, and helping advance our mission. Board members participate in meetings, contribute their expertise and connections, and actively support the organization’s growth and impact.

Help HopeCentral identify funding opportunities that support our mission and programs. The Grant Research Volunteer will research foundations, corporations, and other potential funders and organize relevant grant opportunities for the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify funders aligned with HopeCentral’s mission and programs.

  • Track deadlines, eligibility requirements, and funding priorities.

  • Maintain an organized list of potential grant opportunities.

  • Share promising opportunities with the appropriate staff.

Qualifications

  • Strong research and organizational skills.

  • Detail-oriented and dependable.

  • Comfortable working independently, using online research tools.

  • Nonprofit or grant research experience is helpful but not required.
