Dear HopeCentral parents and patients,
Dr. Chris Jones sent an update about the coronavirus last week however as the virus continues to spread I know there are many questions on how to keep your family healthy. We will continue to stay in touch and update you as we get more information but I wanted to pass along prevention tips and instructions that the CDC is encouraging.
The CDC states the cleaning and disinfecting surfaces is a "a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses in households and community settings". Below are general instructions given for keeping your household and work environments clean. The CDC also gives further instructions if you suspect someone in your family may have COVID-19 and how to best contain it.
A simple diluted household bleach solution is effective against coronavirus. You can make this solution by combining 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach with a gallon of water.
**Be sure to use this only if it is appropriate for the surface**
And, as you have heard, washing your hands frequently is one of the best ways to prevent yourself from getting COVID-19 and further spreading the virus. Please encourage your kids that this is one of the best ways that they can stay healthy while they are at school and participating in other activities.
I know there is a lot of worry and anxiety around the current situation. I encourage you to do what you can to keep your family's environments clean as the virus continues to circulate.
HopeCentral is grateful to be your pediatric health care home and I am blessed to serve your family,
Dr. Patricia Scott
